Updated Professional Text Retrieval System Announced by Virginia Systems

July 5, 2010 Midlothian, Virginia. Virginia Systems announced today that it is shipping an updated professional text retrieval system on both the Macintosh and Windows.

Sonar Professional has new functionality and is now a Cocoa application on the Macintosh, sporting an improved interface. The Windows interface has also been updated.

New features include:

• an improved user-interface

• searches that automatically look for both singular and plural versions of nouns

• displaying PDF pages as both text and as an exact image of the page in both Macintosh and Windows versions

• an improved text formatting for PDF files on the Macintosh

• search report generation that provides context though entire sentences

Two sister products, Sonar and Sonar Image, have been discontinued. Sonar Image functionality can now be achieved using Acrobat to scan and OCR documents into a PDF format and then using Sonar Professional to search and display the PDFs.

A free demo version of Sonar Professional is available on Virginia Systems' web site at: www.virginiasystems.com under "Downloads."

Sonar Professional costs $495 for a single-user license. Volume discounts are available.

Updates to Sonar Professional is free to users who had previously purchased Sonar Professional after February 1, 2010. Otherwise, a one-year support agreement that includes updates is $295. Support agreements can be purchased on the Virginia Systems' web site under "Ordering."
